Promotion and Solicitation Policy
In order to promote any business, product, or service to FaffCon participants, you must be an official sponsor. Out of respect for those who make FaffCon possible with their generous support, non-sponsors are prohibited from soliciting business from FaffCon participants during FaffCon, and over the three days immediately preceding and following FaffCon. This includes, but is not limited to, distributing or displaying promotional material or the predatory marketing practices known as piggybacking, outboarding, and suitcasing.
In our case, this can include an attendee’s mistaken belief that it’s OK to promote a non-sponsor by putting their materials on the Business Card Table or leading an infomercial-type Topic Session. Or it can be the much more aggressive practice of using a meeting space or guest room within the hotel for the purpose of engaging attendees outside of the sanctioned format of the event.
FaffCon agrees with the IAEM that suitcasing is an unethical marketing practice. Circumventing FaffCon’s official sponsor program is not only unfair to our sponsors, but it creates a lot of extra work for FaffCon’s producer and staff who volunteer hundreds of hours of personal time to create each FaffCon event.
Thank you in advance for respecting FaffCon and the people who make it happen by not engaging in these practices and not supporting those who do.
Audio/Videotaping, Digital Recording, and Photography
Because all presentations and associated materials are the speakers intellectual property, please refrain from recording Topic Sessions in any medium. Participants may not make a recording of any session in which they are not physically present, even with the speaker’s approval. FaffCon reserves the right to record and photograph participants for the express purpose of promoting future FaffCon events. Recording for any other commercial purpose is strictly forbidden.
